Safety Officer - Darlington Nuclear Generating Station

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Develop, implement and maintain health and safety policies and procedures and all related administrative controls.
- Conduct job hazard analysis for all job tasks and ensure development and implementation of safe work practices and procedures.
- Ensure use of required personal protective equipment and implementation of emergency evacuation and rescue plans while focused on elimination of unsafe work practices.
- Issue safe work permits; conduct site inspections and completion of required reports.

- Inspect and perform preventative maintenance on all rescue equipment.
- Assess the confined space and create a rescue plan; ensuring all documentation is filled out neatly and adequately.
- Ensure that all workers have the required training and PPE.
- Ensure signs and barriers are erected and set up all necessary equipment.
- Carefully monitor workers and remain alert and vigilant while on standby.
- Perform emergency evacuation and/or carry out rescue plans when required.
WHAT YOU BRING:

2-3+ year of progressive experience with a safety-based organization or professional association (Fire; EMS; police)

Preference will be given to individuals with EMS or fire services training. A valid Standard First Aid, CPR & AED certificate is required. Level 1 Paramedic is an asset. Technical Rope Rescue, Confined Space Entry or High Angle Rescue training (preferred)

Outstanding communication, with a strong attention to detail and must be able to work within a team environment as well as without supervision.

- Responsible for maintaining and managing all aspects of the office including equipment and supplies while ensuring the space remains tidy and in good standing at all times.
- Interface with other departments and sister companies as required with shared duties including (training schedules, boardroom usage, marketing newsletters / blogs /posts and employee / client events).

- Firewatch Officer's primary duties involve ongoing proactive inspections and patrols of assigned work areas for potential fire risks or leaks before, during and after the workday.

- Maintain safety features, such as fire extinguishers and alarms and provide guidance / feedback to onsite personnel in terms of potential risks.
- Vigilant oversight of all on-site employees when doing hot-work

- In the event of an emergency incident the officer will be responsible for notifying and coordinating with emergency services.

Confined Space Rescue Technician - Construction and Industrial

Overview
Title: Confined Space Rescue Technician
Reports to: Rescue Team Management
SDS is looking for Rescue Technicians who are qualified to perform a variety of confined space rescue procedures. Candidates must be willing to work at a variety of construction and industrial sites in the GTA and surrounding areas.
Qualifications
Confined Space Rescue Technician, Technical Rope Rescue, Confined Space Entry Training is mandatory.
A valid Standard First Aid / CPR / AED Level C (minimum) and an unrestricted driver’s license are also required.
Additional Qualifications
- Have the ability to inspect and perform preventative maintenance on all rescue equipment
