SDS's Working at Heights - Fundamentals of Fall Prevention training program is Ministry of Labour and CPO approved and designed to protect workers from the risk of falls when working at elevated heights.

Training Outline

The Working at Heights Training program consists of two parts - theory and practical. Participants who successfully complete this program will immediately receive a wall certificate and wallet card.

The Ministry of Labour will issue a "Proof of Completion Card" to successful training participants that is mailed to the contact address provided.

Who Should Attend?

All workers who will be required to work at height, near the edge. Mandatory training required for access to construction and industrial projects by all workers.

Part 1 Basic Awareness Training

  • Rights and Responsibilities
  • Identification of the Hazards of Working at Heights
  • Understanding the Hierarchy of Controls and Limitations of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Warning Methods and Physical Barriers
  • Ladders and Similar Equipment Safety 
  • Basic Introduction to PPE Theory

Part 2 Hands-On Practical Training

  • Barriers and Other Fixed Equipment
  • Personal Fall Protection Equipment (travel restraint, fall restricting, fall arrest systems)
  • Anchor Points
  • Work Access Equipment and Platforms Rescue Planning
